Bartholomew's Fip Story
In November of 2022, when Bartholomew was about six months old, we noticed he was lethargic and had lost his appetite. He was mischievous at that age, and we thought he had eaten something upsetting his stomach. The next day we took him to the vet, who performed an exam and took X-rays. Bartholomew had a fever, and the x-ray showed fluid in his lungs. Our vet very quickly gave us the initial diagnosis of FIP but wanted to do further testing to try and confirm. She drained some of the fluid from his lungs to be tested and did blood work. The next day, she confirmed the diagnosis of FIP and discussed our options. In the last three years, we had to put down our dog and two cats, so the thought of losing Bartholomew was devastating. We are grateful she knew about this treatment and directed us to the FIP Warriors Canada Facebook group. The admin was very quick at replying and guiding us through the process of obtaining the treatment. The following day Bartholomew received his first dose. We noticed his appetite and energy improved within the first 24 hours, and by the end of the first week, he was back to his old self. As Bartholomew improved, he also got stronger, and we struggled with the daily injections. We had to give Bartholomew stronger sedation for him to receive his treatment. After 31 days of injections, we switched to oral treatment, which Bartholomew took like a champ. He was cured on April 21, just a few days before Bartholomew’s first birthday! We cannot thank the admin support and vet for helping us. Bartholomew is a loving and playful cat; we couldn’t imagine our lives without him.
