Eugene's FIP story

Eugene was diagnosed with wet FIP September 2021. Our vet at the time informed us there were no proven or approved treatment options and that we needed to begin thinking about Eugene’s end of life plan. He had just had his first birthday; we were beyond devastated. Our vet mentioned unconfirmed reports of a possible treatment option and reached out to a colleague in the US to learn more A few days later she relayed some very promising information about an anti-viral medication. At the same time we were busy researching and thankfully found and joined the FIP Warriors.

Only a few days into treatment Eugene’s energy levels and appetite returned. He was still quite large with the fluid that had accumulated. With each day’s treatment we weighed him and measured his belly and were so excited to see rapid progress. His body reabsorbed the belly fluid within the first few weeks and for the remainder of the treatment period he was back to his old, hilarious self. We had such great support from our FIP Warriors. All questions that we had were quickly answered and the feedback we received on his bloodwork helped us understand what it all meant. Thankfully Eugene’s numbers improved early on and stabilized at healthy levels. Our vet was great throughout the process and was eager to learn more about the treatment.

It’s been a little over a year since Eugene was first diagnosed, and he’s now a happy, healthy and rambunctious big boy, cured of the terrible FIP disease. We are incredibly grateful to the Warriors and to our vet for saving our big boy. We are so grateful for the FIP Warriors getting the message out there to our cat parents that there is a way to save your furbabies. I am also very impressed with how our vet went the extra mile to investigate studies on FIP, gather info from us on our experience and sharing that knowledge with other patients. I hope all cat parents are aware of this option. It has incredible and almost immediate results. Thank you again, Warriors! We appreciate everything from you!
