Maia's Fip Story
We first got our kitten, Maia, from a breeder in February 2022. She was quiet and seemed sick, she was treated for an upper respiratory infection. She was an affectionate and happy kitten. I began to notice that she was sleeping more than what seemed appropriate for a kitten. One morning in March I noticed her belly was suddenly swollen. Having just lost two cats quickly to an unknown illness in 2021, I rushed her to the vet. X-rays were taken and found her belly to be full of fluid, our vet warned me it was likely to be one of two things, heart disease or FIP, neither one treatable, both fatal. Fluid was drawn from her belly and the vet noted that it was most likely FIP, bloodwork was sent away to confirm. Our vet told us that the bloodwork would take several days to come back but there was nothing he could do for our cat anyway. He mentioned another patient was having success with a treatment found online and said he would try to get a hold of her for me. I did not want to wait for the vet and potentially have my cat die in the mean time. I began to search franticly online and found the FIP Warriors group, I messaged them right away and had a treatment and hope in my hands within 24 hours. Within a week of treatment she had more energy and seemed more like a kitten. My admins with FIP Warriors were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, whenever I had a question they were quick to reply. Without this treatment my beautiful girl would have died but instead in September she was declared cured! She is happy and thriving! Our vet is amazed and so thankful we were able to save our girl, he is hopeful that more cats can be saved from this horrible illness. I will never be able to express how thankful I am for this cure and this wonderful group of people that kept me going through such a horrible time. We are truly blessed. Thank you, Angela and Maia
