HOWIE'S FIP JOURNEY

My sweet little Howie was assumed to have FIP after I took him to the emergency vet when I noticed his belly was very becoming distended (nearly 1 kg of fluid retention).

Since FIP is a diagnosis through elimination of other diseases and issues, I needed to approve a litany of screening tests. A small fortune later, the vet suspected he most likely had FIP, noting it was most likely the trauma from his dental surgery he had two weeks prior that ignited this deadly virus.

I left the vet just beside myself, I can’t possibly CHOOSE death for my sweet little guy, he wasn’t even one year old yet!

Luckily, I stumbled upon FIP Warriors and they gave me instant hope, maybe I didn’t have to choose death after all. Since time is of the essence with FIP they gave me all the information I would possibly need to get started, set up a message group with the Warriors who would monitor Howie’s progress and answer any questions or concerns I had, and connected me with local volunteers who had extra vials of this miracle drug (still not an approved regulation drug in Canada, even though it is saving thousands of kitties worldwide).

The daily injections were hard on me and Howie, so the Warriors set me up with a local vet Dr. Laina Knorr at Pet Wellness Spay & Neuter in Calgary, her and her team were so incredibly helpful!

I was seeing an improvement in Howie so incredibly quickly, and I finally felt like I could breathe.

Today, Howie has been officially cured of FIP! He is the normal, healthy, happy and playful kitty he was always meant to be. And I have the FIP Warriors of Canada to thank for their continuous help, advice and support. Howie wouldn’t be alive without them, and it just breaks my heart, knowing that veterinarians in Canada can’t or won’t tell people about this amazing drug, condemning these poor sweet creatures to a premature demise.

FIP is treatable! And the FIP Warriors have the most compassion and knowledge you’ll ever need to save your kitties life. ❤️
