Pickles FIP Story

In October 2019, I spent my Thanksgiving crying because our 11 month old kitten Pickles had been diagnosed with a terminal illness called FIP. It was my amazing vet who quietly mentioned to me that there was actually a treatment out there... however it was unregulated and probably next to impossible to obtain here in Canada. With this glimmer of hope I spent the entire weekend researching and looking for this so-called cure. That is when I discovered the FIP Warriors, back then much smaller and quite difficult to find as they had just emerged six months prior. I joined the group but still felt extreme skepticism and tried not to get my hopes up too high. I began messaging with them, but very cautiously. It soon became obvious to me that this organization was legit and truly wanted to help me. Cats were indeed being saved. The warriors admins (all from other countries) spent countless hours messaging back and forth with me, searching for anything available in Canada and eventually found someone else here who was already treating her cat. This person came to my rescue and rush shipped one of her own precious vials to me so that I could start treatment. I soon discovered a few other Canadians who were also treating their cats and we all communicated and became quite close. Together we faced many challenges including a shortage. We stuck together and helped each other through it, this collective group of determined people with one common goal became my FIP family. I could not have done any of this without the help of these complete strangers who moved mountains to help save my cat and I knew in my heart that I would always continue helping others with this journey once mine was finished. Stay strong Warriors. 💚
