TEDDY'S FIP JOURNEY

My cat teddy was diagnosed with FIP just after he turned one . I had thought he was “maturing” as he started to no longer bug my older cat . He was sleeping more and seemed calm . That changed rapidly to being very lethargic and no longer eating. I took him to my vet and they did bloodwork on him. They seemed a little bit concerned at the time but it wasn’t until the next day that they called him back for an ultrasound that I knew something was really wrong . They explained to me that he had FIP and there were only two treatments. I had to choose between euthanasia or going home and contacting the FIP organization to start a very difficult treatment . When I asked what that meant they said they had heard that a drug was having success but they did not have access to it. I got home immediately and contacted the FIP Warriors Canada Facebook group for help and was met almost immediately with amazing administrators. They got me in contact with a volunteer in my city that had extra medication/supplies and I was able to start treatment that night. Teddy did the full treatment of injections and we saw a HUGE improvement within 2 weeks. My administrators guided me through everything from injection sores, to bloodwork and any extra medications needed to get him back to health! I am so grateful for this community for saving my kitty ! He is back to being a crazy chunky monkey !
