Our FIP warrior journey

After having 2 kittens cured from FIP, we are 100% in support of the treatment!

Our journey started 3 years ago, when our 4 month old Tucker suddenly became a sleepy purr machine cuddle cat with a huge tummy who would not eat!

At the vet appt for his vaccination we got the devastating diagnosis of FIP and it being terminal

Our vet, quietly and privately asked us if there was an option besides euthanasia, would we do it?? Yes! …. and she gave us a # to call because she couldn’t.

After a whirlwind of phone calls, linking up with admin for advice, and very shakily trying to handle a syringe, he was getting his 1st injections

I think I cried more than Tucker did!

We quickly learned how to roll him burrito style in a towel and how to distract him with Churu as the injection went in. Within 2 days, he was almost his normal self and we were flabbergasted!!

The hands soon stopped shaking, I tracked which side I injected, his weight & the dosage daily as the countdown started

When he went in for his final blood tests as he completed the treatment, our vet proudly carried him around the entire clinic (of 13 vets) saying “See!!! It works!”

Tucker became their ‘poster boy’ for FIP treatment and all knew him by name

We’ll be forever thankful to our vet for her bravely tipping us off to this miracle drug treatment

A year later and a new kitten was added to our fur family. Sadly Chance faced the same diagnosis

We didn’t hesitate for one second in treating Chance — we were pros by now lol

I encourage any kitty parent who gets a FIP diagnosis to do the treatment.

We now have 2 healthy cured beautiful exotic shorthair kittens as proof that FIP can be beaten - it doesn’t need to be a death sentence!
